IRISH COUNTRYWOMEN’S ASSOCIATION have been meeting in Ratoath for over 40 years. We have had many meeting rooms down the years, and have recently moved back into the Ratoath Community Centre.
The guild members meet monthly, on the first Tuesday of each month, to discuss current issues, and plan events for the coming months. These meetings are from 8 to 10.30 p.m. We plan trips and outings, which are both educational and enjoyable. Over the years the ladies have had cake sales, auctions, and quiz nights to benefit local charities. When the business is done a light supper is enjoyed by all.
Social evenings are held through the month; cards are on one night, scrabble another night, book club, and of course crafts. Craft nights are organised and held in guild members’ homes, this gives the ladies a chance to catch up with local news and acquire new skills or just brush up on skills learned at mothers’ knee. In house quizzes are held regularly for our ladies, and are very entertaining.
